Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our church and how we became what we are today.
What Sort of Congregation Are We?
Some of us are long-time members of the Westtown church and of the community. They understand the traditions and the history
of both; their roots run deep in the culture and the earth; they cherish the hymns that have been a part of Christian faith
for centuries, they work hard, their commitment is lifelong and true. Others come from old traditions of faith, but from outside
the Westtown community--New Jersey, Port Jervis, Matamoras, Otisville, Greenville, Montgomery, Wallkill. Some of us are simply
new--to faith, to Christianity, to church. To some, the old hymns are okay, but we feel more at home with simple choruses--and
with a more experiential approach in worship style.
With such rich diversity, we work toward a loving balance; our worship service begins with choruses led by a vocal/instrumental
ensemble (guitars, bass, keyboard, trumpet), continuing with hymns and organ or piano accompaniment
"Spirit-filled," more charismatically evangelical and theologically conservative than not; we are slow to judge,
realizing it is God who brings individuals into Truth.
Also: With an average attendance of 50 - 70, we have a lot of young families.
